The COVID-19 pandemic has hit our Arubian economy hard. It has forced us to close down our borders with the outside world and with no more tourists on our Island, we were basically shutting down our economy, our MAIN economic pillar. Every one was feeling the squeeze, especially our local entrepreneurs who needed to keep their business afloat. BUT, the worst was yet to come when the government has introduced “shelter in place” many business were forced to remain close, another blow to the local entrepreneurs.
It was during this “lock down” period that the idea for RUMBA ecommerce platform was born. Because WE believe that there must be an alternative to keep business open even during these extraordinary times. The only way is to go online, but many businesses couldn’t afford or didn’t want to spend the money in creating their own online shop, especially now when every cent counts.
So, WE have started immediately to work on our ecommerce platform in order to help our local businesses have an online presence and where they can sell their products. BEST of all, is that they don’t have to pay any upfront costs to create their own online shop and they don’t even need to deliver the products themselves. We take care of their delivery and we make sure that their clients get their products.
This is the RUMBA movement, we want to help every local business and create more local entrepreneurs not only have an online presence but also where they can make their products available online to our local and non-local consumers 24/7.
